Research conducted by retail-entertainment site Swoopo suggests the next generation of musicians could come from the gaming market.
Of 3,500 people surveyed over 1,000 said they had taken up a musical instrument as a result of playing the games.
There has been a huge rise in sales of the games over the last 6 months, with guitar being the instrument of choice for 43% of gamers.
Of those, 11% took up acoustic guitar, 23% electric and 9% strapped on a bass.
Do you think these games are the way forward, or a waste of time?

I started guitar roughly two months ago, and, not to be boastful, but i am getting better by the minute, and i think this is due to me already knowing some finger patterns for chords, e.g. an a Major relates to a green, red, yellow chord on guitar hero. I already have the rapid finger movement down too, i was/am in the top 50 GH3 players in the UK :D

If anything guitar hero has made me NOT want to play guitar, to avoid being grouped in with those idiots who think they're amazing musicians.
