Satch: "My New Supergroup Sounds Like Zeppelin!"

Widdler-extraordinaire Joe Satriani has revealed his new supergroup, tentatively titled Chickenfoot, sounds like early Led Zeppelin!

Satch could hardly contain his exctiement whilst talking about the band, which consists of himself, former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

"We are truly over-the-top excited about this," he says. "It's a very energetic kind of rock music that reminds you of early Zeppelin."

Don't get too used to the unusual name though: "We just had to call it something for the time being," he says. "It's definitely not going to be Chickenfoot. I guarantee it."

Chickenfoot hit the studio in California this week to begin recording an album that will be out early next year.

"We hope to mix the album in January, have it ready for April and then we'll follow it up with a tour," says Satch.

"The style is high-energy, kick-ass rock'n'roll. We all bring to the table some unusual influences and then we also share a lot of roots. And I think that's where a true colour of a band comes out, just how we react to each other. So, it's definitely rock music. We haven't brought each other together to do a techno record!"

He adds, "We'll draw from funk, blues and experimental. We know what we want to get out of it. We want passages in songs that develop and we want everyone's personality to be able to come out. So, it's going to be expansive but it's going to be rough." For more info visit MusicRadar.com
